DCA Clinic, Spirit Wear, Cheers, Communications, and other Updates
Your girls have done so great this week. It's blowing my mind to see the volume of motions, beats, chants, and choreography these 6 and 7 year olds are able to learn and retain! In just the last week, we learned the first two 8 counts of our showcase routine, thigh stands, practiced cartwheels, two new cheers, and the girls are asking to learn more!
Cheer Clinic: The girls did great at yesterday's clinic. I apologize for sending out the wrong dates a couple months back, but hopefully the updates reached everyone in time. The next clinic will be on 9/15 from 4-6 pm. Don't worry if you were not able to attend. Any stunts that will be incorporated into the routine will be re-taught.
Spirit Wear: Hopefully everyone saw the email about spirit wear, but, in case you missed it, spirit wear is available for ordering here: https://tpsteamgear.chipply.com/gecheer24 . The store will close on 8/18 at 11:59 pm and will not re-open until the first round of orders have been shipped.
Cheers: I am still playing a bit of post-vacation catch up, but hope to have recordings available this week. Words to the cheers we've learned so far are available in the Videos section of gecheers.com.
Communications: I will be starting a text thread with this group so you all can ask questions without having to wait on Coach Vanessa or I to respond. This will prove valuable as the season progresses and we get more frequent last minute questions. Please let me know if you do not want to be a part of this thread.
Shoes: I've had a few questions about cheer shoes and will attempt to address those. White shoes are highly encouraged for performances (games, showcase, etc.) However, at this age, it's much more important that girls be comfortable and develop confidence than necessarily match. If your daughter needs her favorite sneakers that have seen more mud than air and you keep getting caught every time you try to secretly throw them away after you're convinced she fell asleep, she can absolutely wear those shoes. We've provided examples here, here, and here, but any comfortable white pair is fine. There is no need to wear new cheer shoes to practice.
Uniforms: Still no updates, but we will let you know as soon as they arrive.
Games: We still do not have dates. This schedule is typically released the week before Labor Day and the first game is typically the Saturday after Labor Day.
I look forward to another exciting week with everyone!
